A couple weeks ago, I cried out to my book group buddies, "I need an immigrant!" Never mind my longstanding hankering to learn how to make authentic pho. Not two weeks later I was in a cooking lesson with one member's husband, who for years had been cooking his favorite traditional Vietnamese meal for his family every Sunday. Pho.
